Let’s put it out there. Sometimes life can throw some punches. Some punches we deflect, others catch us off guard and we retreat and other we counter. Our mindset determines if we shrink or adjust and move forward.
I noticed something lately that negativity is loud and defensive where positivity is excited and confident.  Let me say that again Negativity is Loud. Positivity is excited.  You ever notice when you slip into negativity you tend to raise your voice and at the core, you are responding out of concern, fear, worry, and doubt. Where when we are positive our voice may be elevated but there is a calmness and confidence, that you are on the right path.
One of the real opportunities of life is to develop a positive confident nature, to learn how to always look at the bright side. That seems so cliche. But it really is important.  Have you noticed that the people you are drawn to are the ones that have a positive outlook on seemingly everything? How do we become that kind of person? How do we become filled with faith that we are always walking in the light?
I suspect as we discover and nurture this ability we will discover a richness of life we have never known. Love to hear your thoughts
Have a GREAT Tuesday!

Challenging describes the last couple of weeks. When days and weeks consistently go awry, it’s easy to slip into negativity, to focus on the things going wrong and become derailed by things that we don’t like and that is frustrating us.

Changing your mindset can be difficult. It takes mental fortitude to push through the challenges sometimes. I continue to discover that as soon as I make the decision to be positive, to look for and even create opportunities, to take control of my destiny things instantly start turning around.

Strive to be positive in every situation! Don’t just “look on the bright side” tackle the problem with faith and confidence. Make positivity part of your character. You will then find peace in every aspect of your life no matter what life throws at you.

Have a great Friday!

Life can really throw you some curve balls. Some days it‚Äôs seems like its a barrage of curve balls intermixed with knuckle balls, speed balls and few spit balls that splatter on you. What do you? ¬†Do you stay in the batter‚Äôs box and keep swinging even when everything you hit seems to go foul? ¬†Or do you find that a pitch or two goes by and you think to yourself ‚ÄúI should‚Äôve hit that!‚ÄĚ
How do you respond on those days when you are determined to stay in the batter’s box,  adjusting your swing, keeping your eye on everything thrown at you and the curve actually hits you? Oh it’s STINGS!  You recoil in pain, grumbling (maybe swearing) under your breath. The hit makes you step back  and regroup however, by staying in the box and taking the hit you are still able to move forward. Not the way you like to progress but still progress.
Mark Edwards said ‚ÄúYou can‚Äôt control the curve balls life thows you, so you have to learn how to control yourself and change quickly to make sure the curve ball doesn‚Äôt know you out.‚ÄĚ
Learning to control yourself is the real value of this crazy life experience. No matter what life throws at you, STAY IN THE GAME. Keep swinging. Learn to adjust to every pitch. Step out of the box for a moment and regroup then step back in ready to swing. Not all games are easy. Some games we loose and others we win but remember it’s the season that counts not a single game.

USAV Junior NationalsWe are enjoying day two of the USAV Nationals (Jr. Olympics). This morning the girls really struggled the first game. They were sluggish, slow to respond, and you could see in her face they just were not ready to play.

Game two was a completely different story! Their coach pulled them into a huddle. I’m not sure what she said, but you could see the fire in her face – motivating, inspiring, pushing the girls out of their current mindset. ¬†They came on the court a different group. Things really got rolling when they won three serves in a row. Faces lit up, the pace quickened and they caught on fire.

It’s amazing what happens once you change your mind set. Cultivating little bit of HOPE and BELIEF that you can do it IGNITES a fire in your heart and your ATTITUDE changes. EARNING little wins BUILDS MOMENTUM. Once you have MOMENTUM it’s hard to stop success. Change your mindset and success will steamroll, building on itself, creating momentum that is difficult to stop until WINNING is an EXPECTATION not random luck.

No matter what it is, business, personal endeavors change your mindset and WIN!

Be Obsessed with ImprovementIn life, business, fitness or personal development what are you doing to improve your game? Are you investing in yourself? Are you taking time to become mentally, physically and spiritually stronger? Or, have you become content with  the state quo?

What could you learn dedicating only 30 minutes a day of reading or listening to a podcast a day? How would your health change if you set aside 30 minutes a day exercising and eating right? Could you reset your mind and attitude with 30 minutes of meditation at the start of your day?

You know the answer.

Quit stagnating! Listen to that inner voice that is pushing you to greatness and respond with action.

Time to push past good enough and BE GREAT!

Have a GREAT Week!

Focus to win!

Whether in business, fitness or your personal life if you want to succeed you have to FOCUS.

We live in a world that moves so fast that we tend to get distracted. ¬†We are bombarded with opportunities. ¬† Quick results are the siren call to distraction enticing you to abandon your original dream and pursue a “better” opportunity – ultimately leading to another failure.

Staying FOCUSED is a skill. ¬†One that my son has spent many practices in basketball. For a while he struggled with the distraction of opponents “getting in his face” or the sound of the running up behind him. He worked and to develop the discipline to stay 100% focused on the basket no matter what. I’d tell him, “Yes, you may take a foul but a foul will give you the opportunity to turn 2 points into 3. Stay FOCUSED and you’ll hit more of your open shots and earn extra points when fouled.” ¬†The results, this past season a 30% increase in shots made in a game.

FOCUS – Follow One Choice Until Successful. Make it your purpose. ¬†With everything you have work to bring that goal to fruition. ¬†Keep pushing! Don’t give up! Don’t get distracted. Drive yourself to make it happen. If it’s right and you put in the effort your goal will become a reality!

Have a GREAT Week!

Pressure refinesThis weekend I thought a lot about pressure as our team has been under the gun to deliver on a couple of big projects. Some days it seems like the pressure is overwhelming.
It’s interesting though as I reflect,  our team has made our greatest strides when the pressure is on.  No we don’t want to be under pressure all the time but pressure can drive us to innovate, it can drive us to discover new ways to do things, it provides an environment for us to push ourselves.  In the end, the key is embracing the pressure and learning from each experience so that we become better individuals and ultimately a better team.
Reflecting on the growth that has stemmed from pressure, I‚Äôve noticed that each of our team members have become better communicators both internally and with customers. Pressure has forced us to collaborate more often enabling us to share ideas that have lead to a better solution. It‚Äôs a continual process. Some days we are better at embracing the pressure than others. Will the pressure ever go away? No, we would stagnate if it did. Our natural tendency it to complain and revolt against pressure. However, I find that when we embrace the pressure we grow in unexpected ways that never would’ve happened if we were simply left to ourselves.
